1. Who we are
Local Roofer Directory (https://localroofer.directory) is a UK roofing directory operated by IT Genetics Ltd (trading as Flok Marketing) ("we", "us", "our"). We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website.

We are not currently required to register with the ICO as a data processor; however we comply fully with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. What personal data we collect and why

3. How quote requests work
When you submit a quote request, your name, contact details and job description are forwarded by email directly to the roofing business you selected, or — if that business has no registered email — to one or more nearby alternative roofers we identify from our directory. We do not sell your details to third parties or use them for any purpose other than connecting you with a roofer.
Any message you send is sanitised before forwarding: if it contains personal information beyond your contact fields, it may be replaced with a generic description based on your selected job type.
4. Reviews
Reviews you submit are held in a moderation queue for up to seven (7) days. During this period the business owner may claim their listing and choose to respond. If the business remains unclaimed after 7 days, the review is published automatically. Your name and review content are displayed publicly; your email address is never published.
5. Who we share your data with
- Roofing businesses — your quote request details are sent to the roofer(s) you request a quote from.
- SMTP2Go — our email delivery provider, used solely to transmit emails on our behalf (data processor).
- Cloudflare — our CDN and DDoS protection provider. Processes request metadata only; no personal data is stored.
- Stripe / GoCardless — payment processors used when a business subscribes to a paid listing. We do not store card numbers ourselves.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We do not use data brokers or advertising networks that track you across the web.
6. International transfers
Our servers are located in the UK/EEA. Where processors are based outside the UK (e.g. SMTP2Go in Australia), we ensure adequate safeguards are in place via standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms approved under UK GDPR.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing.

9. Security
We use HTTPS throughout the site, store passwords using bcrypt hashing, and never log or store full payment card numbers. IP addresses are stored in hashed form only. We conduct periodic reviews of our data handling practices.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be flagged on the website and, where appropriate, communicated by email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always shows when the policy was last revised.
