Roofers in Croydon

Croydon is one of south London's largest centres, and its roofscape spans dense Victorian and Edwardian terraces, interwar suburban semis, and the distinctive 1960s office-tower core with its large flat roofs. The terraces are natural slate and clay tile — with the classic London chimney, valley and nail-sickness issues of ageing slate — while the suburbs run to concrete tile and the commercial and post-war stock brings extensive flat roofing.

Inland and densely built, Croydon's main pressures are the age and complexity of its roofs rather than coastal exposure, though the London clay beneath can bring seasonal movement. For owners, it divides by stock: on the Victorian terraces prioritise chimney, valley and parapet condition and relay tired slate rather than patching; on flat-roofed and post-war buildings, get the falls and upstands right and consider modern single-ply or GRP on renewal. Keep gutters and valleys clear.
