Roofers in Dunstable

Dunstable sits at the foot of the Chilterns on the chalk downland of south Bedfordshire, an old market and coaching town now largely surrounded by interwar and post-war housing. The roofscape mixes clay plain tile and slate on the older centre with concrete interlocking tile across the 20th-century estates, and flat-roofed extensions in the suburbs. The historic core around the priory church carries some conservation constraint.

The chalk-downland setting is relatively dry but exposed to wind coming off the Downs, so wind uplift on ridges and exposed slopes is a real consideration, and the ageing concrete tiles of the mid-century housing are reaching the age of renewal. Being inland, salt is not a factor.

For Dunstable owners, the common decisions are about the estate housing — whether ageing concrete-tile or flat roofs are due for overhaul or replacement — while the older stock brings conventional chimney and valley work. Make sure ridges and exposed edges are well secured against the wind off the Downs.
