Roofers in Stoke-On-Trent

Stoke-on-Trent is the city of the Potteries, formed from six towns, a historic ceramics and coal-mining centre with a roofscape of dense Victorian industrial terraces roofed in Welsh natural slate and clay tile, alongside later housing. The terrace stock brings shared chimney stacks, valleys and nail sickness as century-old fixings fail, and the legacy of coal mining means some ground is prone to settlement that shows in older roof junctions.

Set inland in north Staffordshire, Stoke escapes coastal salt but takes a wet Midlands climate, so sound valleys, well-maintained gutters and secure ridges are the priorities. For owners here, relay tired slate roofs properly once the fixings have gone rather than patching, have any movement in older roofs assessed against the area's mining history rather than simply patched, and keep gutters clear and ridges secure. On the long terraces, coordinate shared chimney and gutter work with neighbours and keep flashings sound.
