Buckinghamshire spans about four centuries of building inside forty miles. The advice divides accordingly. In Milton Keynes, get a straight answer on whether the roof needs a recover or a repair, because 40-year-old concrete tiles that have started to craze will keep failing piecemeal. In the Chilterns, fit and actually maintain leaf guards, and clear valleys before winter rather than after the first leak. And anywhere with witchert or cob walls, never let anyone reduce the roof overhang for the sake of a tidier detail.
