Pembrokeshire is the most weather-beaten county in Wales, and its traditional buildings were designed by people who knew it. Cottages in Tenby, Saundersfoot, Newport and Broad Haven that sit empty from October to Easter accumulate months of unnoticed water ingress, and by the time the season opens a slipped slate has become a rotten purlin. If you own a let, pay someone locally to walk round it after each named storm. That single arrangement saves more money than any other maintenance decision on this coast.

Coverage is thin. Twenty-four firms are listed across a county with a very long coastline, and only two advertise emergency call-out, so lead times after a big blow can be genuinely long. Book planned work well ahead, and if you are inside the National Park or a Tenby conservation area, settle materials and consent early rather than assuming a like-for-like slate swap needs no permission.
